Gary Bettman has been the commissioner of the National Hockey League since 1993. During this time, Bettman has established rapid growth in league revenues that continue to grow today. He has overseen the expansion of the NHL across the United States, with multiple additions during his tenure. Over the course of his time with the NHL, he’s negotiated several lucrative, long-term broadcasting deals, bringing the NHL to televisions to all corners of Canada and the United States. In May 2014, SportsBusiness Journal and SportsBusiness Daily named Bettman “Sports Executive of the Year.” Prior to assuming his role as commissioner of the NHL, Bettman served as Senior Vice-President and General Counsel to the NBA.
