David Andrews was the President and CEO of the American Hockey League since 1994, in which he has established himself as one of the most influential executives in professional hockey. He retired from the AHL in June of 2020. Andrews has guided the AHL to substantial success both across the United States and in Canada. In 2001, he helped create one of the biggest expansion efforts in hockey history, bringing nine new teams into the AHL. Under Andrews’ tenure, AHL games are now broadcast worldwide, via television, satellite radio and online video streaming. In 2010, Andrews was a recipient of the Lester Patrick Trophy, a prestigious award recognizing an individual’s stellar contributions to hockey in the United States.
